The current tabacaria Rainha de Copas was the first gambling house in São João da Madeira, founded in 1954 and at the time under another name. It is located in the city center, next to Praça Luís Ribeiro, at 11 Rua da Liberdade and has been, since November 7, owned by Lurdes Vieira, professor of Mathematics of the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education . The current owner, always with ambition in the professional area, has an enormous capacity for work, which she acquired throughout her professional career and in direct contact with different types of people and social extracts that she had during her professional career encompassed in different areas.
The main objective of the acquisition of the business was the creation of the owner’s job, who at that time had been unemployed for almost nine months, after more than a decade of work in the area of ​​teaching and having been teaching at a public school in Proença- A-Nova in the 2016/17 school year, away from her family.
For this reason, and never keeping his arms crossed, he started thinking about creating his own job in an area that would provide him with direct contact with the public and that would not allow him to stay away from his family. After some reflections, he thought about creating a business in the retail trade of newspapers and magazines, tobacco and Games Santa Casa.
